This event will discuss a recently published special issue in the journal Agroecology and Sustainable Food Systems around the topic of “The Political Economy of Agroecological Transitions”. During the event, select authors will present the key arguments from their articles and the lead editor will present a high-level summary of the special issue. In addition to the presentations, there will be a Q&A as well as an open discussion on the importance of political economy perspectives for agroecology in theory and practice. We will also discuss a forthcoming book that brings together the same authors.
EVENT OBJECTIVES
The objective of this event is to present the key takeaways from a recently published special issue on the theme of “political economy of agroecological transitions”. Given the audience at the CBD COP17, we hope the event will expand the special issue’s audience and the CGIAR research agenda within the Multifunctional Landscapes Science Program. The co-editors of the special issue are currently also co-editing a book which will also be mentioned. To do this, Ryan will introduce the special issue. Then, Ben and Marcela will speak briefly about their articles in the special issue. Lastly, Ben, Marcela and Inez will discuss the importance of political economy perspectives on agroecology.
KEY OUTCOMES
We hope to expand the readership of CGIAR research outputs and provide more visibility for CGIAR research under the Multifunctional Landscapes Science Program.
