This side event directly supports the COP17 Global Review by providing a comprehensive assessment of how revised NBSAPs 3.0 integrate agroecology, agrobiodiversity and nature-positive food system approaches. It will present new evidence on the extent and quality of this integration, while exploring the means of implementation set out in NBSAPs, from concrete policy instruments, monitoring system, institutional framework, finance, partnerships and the actions needed beyond them. By examining both policy ambition and implementation readiness, the event will identify key gaps and highlight concrete measures that can accelerate progress.Â
Â
EVENTÂ OBJECTIVESÂ
- Present a comprehensive assessment of how revised NBSAPs 3.0 align with nature-positive food system and agroecological approaches, complementing the Global Review on Target 10 and other food system-related commitments, while identifying concrete showcases and actions with potential of high impact.Â
- Discuss key levers for moving from NBSAP strategy to implementation at national level, with a focus on financing pathways and other levers (including capacity-building, a whole-of-society approach and participation, resource mobilization, monitoring and evaluation, technical assistance and policy coherence).Â
Â
KEY OUTCOMESÂ
1. Increased understanding of implementation readiness in NBSAPs 3.0
Participants gain a clearer understanding of how revised NBSAPs 3.0 integrate agroecology, agrobiodiversity and nature-positive food systems, including strengths, gaps and opportunities across the 5-tier implementation chain from policy ambition to resource mobilisation.Â
2. Shared recommendations on enabling conditions for implementation
Participants identify and exchange practical approaches, financing pathways and enabling conditions needed to translate NBSAP commitments into implementation, including policy coherence, institutional arrangements, monitoring systems, partnerships, capacity strengthening and resource mobilisation. Â
3. Strengthened collaboration and mobilisation around food system transformation
Governments, NBSAP teams, research organisations, financial actors and civil society strengthen dialogue and forge new opportunities for collaboration to support the implementation of biodiversity-friendly and nature-positive food system actions under NBSAPs and the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework.Â
