At CGIAR, Research Ethics is fundamental to ensuring responsible, transparent, and impactful research. While each CGIAR Center currently manages its own Research Ethics standards and guidelines, this approach often lacks coordination across the various jurisdictions in which CGIAR operates. As collaboration between our Centers intensifies, so does the need for a unified approach—one that fosters knowledge sharing, resource pooling, and coordination of Research Ethics across CGIAR. That’s why, at the Office of Ethics and Business Conduct (EBC), we’ve embarked on an exciting dialogue to map out diverse practices, needs and interests surrounding Research Ethics within our Centers. We invite you to be part of this crucial conversation during Science Week!
This will be a dynamic and interactive session where we will not only explore challenges but also brainstorm solutions. Together, we’ll identify how we can strengthen our collective approach to Research Ethics across CGIAR.
Key Topics of Discussion
- What should a unified CGIAR Research Ethics Framework look like, and how should it be integrated across our Centers?
- How can Research Ethics empower and support the success of CGIAR science initiatives?
- How can we leverage each Center’s strengths and successes to build a cohesive Research Ethics Framework?
- Can we streamline processes and avoid duplicating efforts by learning from each other’s experiences?
- How do we ensure that this conversation evolves beyond Science Week and drives lasting change?
We look forward to hearing your thoughts, ideas, and feedback. Your voice matters in shaping the future of Research Ethics @ CGIAR.
