This invitation-only workshop will bring together CGIAR scientists and decision-makers to reflect on key messages from the Insight to Impact (I2I) Report, share experiences, and develop strategies for integrating CGIAR research into national policies and engagement in regional and international forums. Participants will identify processes ripe for policy influence, goals, themes, structures, and how they can use content from the inaugural Flagship Report and its successors.
Policymakers across the globe are grappling with complex and interconnected challenges: food and nutrition security, climate change, biodiversity loss, water resource degradation, sustainable development, gender equity, poverty reduction, and more. Amidst this, CGIAR’s global partnership of 13 world-leading research centers provide solutions to transform food, land, and water systems in a climate crisis to ensure food security in low and middle-income countries. For over 50 years the CGIAR has supported decision- and policymakers at global, regional, national, and local levels by providing timely, policy-relevant, impactful innovations, data, and expertise to ensure food security in target countries. As the largest producer of global public goods in the agri-food development sector, CGIAR research combines trade-offs and synergy analyses with transformative approaches to address challenges in the areas of climate, environment, nutrition, poverty, and gender.
During CGIAR Science Week in Nairobi, Insight to Impact (I2I), CGIAR’s first Flagship Report will be launched. The report presents research in an accessible format designed specifically to arm decision-makers with the evidence they need. It showcases cutting edge research from CGIAR and its partners that addresses key questions from decisionmakers at local, national, and global levels, and offers new insights to untangle complex issues. Every aspect of the report has been led by decision-makers like those participating in the workshop.
