This side event reports on the progress of a joint initiative between FAO’s COFO Working Group on Drylands and the Alliance Bioversity-CIAT. This collaborative effort is gathering scientific evidence and best practices from local experts and practitioners worldwide. The event presents an evidence-based approach to enhancing carbon sequestration through strategically implemented silvopastoral systems. Besides, the event shows current research and important considerations on the matter, presented by top researchers from different backgrounds and institutions. The dialogue reinforce sustainable management and restoration of drylands, framed by global efforts to tackle climate change, thus increasing resilience and supporting drylands’ livelihoods.
