Land, water, food systems, biodiversity and climate challenges are converging in the same landscapes, yet responses remain fragmented. This side event will introduce the Coalition of Action on Landscape Multifunctionality as a practical platform for coordinated action. It will explore how science, policy, finance and implementation partners can work together to advance multifunctional landscapes that deliver shared human and planetary outcomes. 

EVENT OBJECTIVES 
- Build a shared understanding of landscape multifunctionality as a practical framework for balancing production, restoration, biodiversity, water, livelihoods, climate resilience and equity. 
- Discuss how a coalition approach can reduce fragmentation across mandates, sectors, funding streams and metrics. 
- Identify priority evidence gaps, tools, learning sites and decision-support resources needed to advance integrated landscape action. 
- Explore opportunities for policy engagement, investment, joint knowledge products and partnerships linked to UNCCD COP17 and other global fora. 

KEY OUTCOMES 
- Greater convergence among science, policy, finance and implementation actors around multifunctional landscapes as arenas for integrated action. 
- Initial agreement on priority areas for coalition collaboration, including evidence synthesis, metrics, landscape learning sites, policy and finance incentives, and communications. 
- Identification of partners interested in contributing knowledge, convening capacity, field experience, policy engagement or technical expertise. 
- A pathway for follow-up actions after COP17, including a shared framing note, mapping of initiatives and tools, webinars, briefs, side events and possible joint proposals.
