As extreme weather conditions like rising temperatures and droughts occur more frequently, severely impacting food production, adaptation measures in the agrifood sector have become an urgent priority. Therefore, international organizations, financial institutions, and national governments must collaborate to build mechanisms for effectively utilizing climate finance for adaptation measures. Furthermore, it is essential to collaborate with the private sector, which possesses relevant technologies, to promote the use of monitoring and sensing technologies that contribute to improving productivity and ensuring food security.Â
Â
Event objectivesÂ
In this event, our goal is to discuss the roles that governments, research institutions, international organizations, financial institutions, and the private sector should play in increasing climate finance and promoting the dissemination and expansion of technologies for both climate change mitigation and adaptation measures to explore effective ways to collaborate.Â
Â
Key outcomesÂ
- Identification of priority GHG reduction technologies for international deployment.Â
- Strengthening partnerships between Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan (MAFF), research institutes, private sector, and international stakeholders.Â
- Mobilization of finance and investment opportunities for decarbonization in the agri-food sector.Â
