CGIAR confirms its participation in Africa Week 2025, hosted by the University of Pretoria’s Future Africa Institute. Lindiwe Majele Sibanda, Chair of the CGIAR Integrated Partnership Board, will share remarks during Plenary 1: Food Security on Tuesday, May 27, from 9:30 to 10:30 AM. She will share CGIAR’s perspective on food security as a foundation of global security, highlighting how climate change, conflict, and economic shocks are straining existing governance and policy systems.
Future Africa is a biennial science leadership summit that brings together prominent African and international leaders from academia, government, civil society, and the private sector. Under the theme “Global Security – Global Africa,” the 2025 edition reframes security beyond its military dimensions, exploring interlinked threats such as pandemics, digital risks, ecological degradation, and food system fragility.
