CGIAR will play a prominent role at the Africa Food Systems Forum 2025 (AFSF 2025), taking place from 29 August to 5 September 2025 in Dakar, Senegal. Under the forum theme, “Africa’s Youth: Leading Collaboration, Innovation, and Implementation of Africa’s Food Systems Transformation,” CGIAR will showcase its impact through science, partnerships, and evidence-based contributions to sustainable food systems across the continent.
CGIAR’s engagement is organized through nine thematic platforms, each responsible for curating one thematic session and two side events. These sessions reflect strategic priorities including climate resilience, sustainable production, youth and gender inclusion, nutrition and health, digital innovation, finance, and trade.
A key cross-cutting focus will be on the evolution of scaling—from projects to systems change, highlighting how CGIAR’s Scaling for Impact (S4I) Program acts as an engine for transformative scaling. This work is closely aligned with the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP), underscoring CGIAR’s contribution to African agricultural transformation and continental policy frameworks.
In addition to thematic programming, CGIAR will participate in high-level leadership engagements, including the Presidential Summit, a CGIAR–AGRA leadership roundtable, and launch ICRISAT's 2025-30 Strategy. These mark a new era of strategic partnership between AGRA and CGIAR, reinforcing collaboration and alignment on shared goals.
CGIAR’s presence at AFSF 2025 underscores its commitment to driving inclusive, science-based solutions for transforming Africa’s food systems—with African youth leading the way.
