Locally led adaptation (LLA) is an emerging concept designed to ensure that communities are empowered to lead sustainable adaptation to climate change. Principles of LLA have been established, but theory is ahead of practice. In this session, we will explore different approaches to operationalising locally-led adaptation to achieve meaningful impact. These innovative approaches to LLA outline a new business unusual agenda for research and development that is centred on the capabilities, priorities and interests of agricultural producers.
EVENT OBJECTIVES
Present and compare different approaches to implementing locally led adaptationÂ
Solicit inputs from partners in research, government and donor organisations on strengths, weaknesses and opportunities of different LLA approachesÂ
Outline the next steps for developing locally led adaptation as a practical approach to agricultural development, thereby enhancing community resilience in the face of climate change.
KEY OUTCOMES
By the end of the session, we will have a refined collective understanding of how to operationalise locally led adaptation.
