Under the theme “Catalysing Climate Tech: Unlocking Bioeconomy Pathways for Systemic Change,” the event will examine how climate technologies can accelerate the bioeconomy as a transformative driver of sustainable development and climate action. It will introduce the CTPR 2025 report and its key messages, with a special focus on the Latin America and the Caribbean regional chapter. The session will explore rapidly advancing bioeconomy innovations such as biomass conversion, bio-based materials, sustainable agriculture, land-use practices, and carbon sequestration while outlining regional opportunities, barriers, and pathways to enhance climate ambition.
Event objectives
Presenting the Climate Technology Progress Report 2025 and its key messages, including the dedicated regional chapter on Latin America and the Caribbean. This report serves not only as a knowledge product but as a strategic tool to identify priority technologies, accelerate implementation, and inform policy and investment decisions.
Highlighting the critical role of climate technologies in accelerating the bioeconomy as a transformative pathway for both climate action and sustainable development. By convening experts, policymakers, practitioners, and regional stakeholders, the session seeks to build a shared understanding of how technology-enabled bioeconomy solutions can deliver systemic change, enhancing resilience, driving innovation, and reducing emissions across sectors.
Showcasing innovative technologies and practices that are rapidly emerging within the bioeconomy. These include biomass conversion, bio-based materials, sustainable agriculture, improved land-use practices, circular economy models, and carbon sequestration and utilization technologies. The session aims to provide concrete examples of how these innovations are already transforming value chains, generating green jobs, and improving livelihoods, particularly in the LAC region.
Fostering regional collaboration and policy alignment by encouraging dialogue between governments, private sector actors, development partners, and civil society. By identifying barriers such as financing gaps, regulatory hurdles, and capacity constraints and exploring solutions, the session seeks to catalyse collective action.
Key outcomes
Increased awareness and shared understanding of how climate technologies drive bioeconomy pathways and contribute to systemic change in sustainable development and climate action.
Dissemination of key findings from the CTPR 2025, to inform national strategies, policy dialogues, and investment priorities.
Identification of high-potential bioeconomy innovations that can be scaled across the LAC region.
Clarification of enabling conditions and barriers, including policy, financing, governance, and capacity needs required to accelerate technology adoption and implementation.
Actionable recommendations for integrating bioeconomy pathways into climate strategies, NDC implementation, and sustainable development agendas.
