This session will explore innovations and country experiences advancing climate-resilient food systems and sustainable landscapes aligned with the Global Goal on Adaptation (GGA). Drawing on evidence from CGIAR and partners, it will demonstrate how integrated soil-water-crop-livestock-forestry systems, agrobiodiversity, and circular bioeconomy approaches strengthen resilience, restore ecosystems, and enhance livelihoods, offering actionable pathways to operationalise the GGA.
Event objectives
Demonstrate science-based evidence and innovations that enhance climate resilience across diverse landscapes while contributing to adaptation, mitigation, food security, and biodiversity goals.
Present practical lessons from country and regional initiatives applying integrated soil–water–biodiversity–livelihood approaches to scale climate-resilient food systems in line with GGA indicators 9b01 and 9b02.
Highlight the role of multifunctional landscapes and nature-based solutions in advancing the Global Goal on Adaptation (GGA) and fostering synergies across the Rio Conventions.
Deliver actionable messages for policymakers and negotiators to integrate landscape restoration, agrobiodiversity, and regenerative practices into adaptation planning, governance, and investment frameworks.
Key outcomes
Evidence on the effectiveness of climate-resilient practices across diverse landscapes, demonstrating their contribution to adaptation, mitigation, food security, and biodiversity goals.
Practical lessons from country and regional case studies on scaling integrated, climate-resilient food systems.
